Recently, my children’s elementary school had an event to celebrate cultures in which students were invited to talk about a member of their family and/or relatives who have migrated to the U.S.
As I was listening to the students’ stories, I had tears in my eyes, my heart verklempt. I realized that my town has never stopped being a city of refuge for anyone who needs safety and rest.
