I choose to be realistic because to hope that the lion will not eat the ox requires the defanging of carnivorous animals so that we humans can fit them into our definition of peace . . . The peace that Christ gives is an opportunity to let go of the fear of death and the unquenchable desire to achieve a so-called “peaceable lifestyle.”
